Reviews

Bonaparte.  A superb Egyptian campaign document, dated le 9 Frimaire, An 7 (29th November 1798) from Le Commissaire Ordonnateur en Chef, Daure, addressed to Citoyen General.  The document, with the letterhead Liberte, Egalite and the stamp Republique Francais, has text ALS, on single side 13 x 9 1/4 inch paper, identified as the 15th communication from Daure.  He requests additional mounts for officers in order that they can speedily move between units and proposes to take these mounts from the Army Surgeon, Larrey.  A reply, dictated by Napoleon with his signature beneath, translates as follows: We have at this particular time still too few cavalry to adopt this measure.  Request that you carry this out in a months time. Bonaparte.  The document has been backed and has a centre fold.  It is particularly suitable for framing and display and a fine modern painting of Napoleon in Egypt is included for this purpose.  Very RARE.
