This large quarto volume (Lapina, Paris, 140pp.) is one of the most sumptuous examples we have ever seen with 51 laid down coloured plates of paintings by Charlet, Dezarno, Doou, Gerard, Guesse, Yvon, Kirchenko, Kossa, Kotzebou, Krassovski, Kruger, Matvieff, Maurin, Prianichnikoff, Scheffer, Tchoukine, Tropinine and Verestchaguine; many of the plates are very rare. The binding is full black calf with double gilt and blind borders and Imperial Eagle decoration, the spine with raised bands, gilt decoration and title. The book is protected in a lined drop over buckram box. Rare. E.
