1st Royal Dragoons: Troopers Helmet, c.1902 - SOLD

Price:   $ 0.00

1st Royal Dragoons: 1902 Trooper’s Pattern Helmet.   This is a fine example, the front half of the nickel skull and rear seam band decorated with brass laurel leaves, and brass chin chain, rosettes, plume holder and folded edge band at the fore and aft peaks (see Head dress of the British Heavy Cavalry 1842-1934, David Rowe, pp131).  The brass spike plume holder has the correct black horsehair plume with rose boss.  The rose head side bosses support the leather backed chin chain (the leather is a replacement) and the original interior is present; the front visor retains the original liner; the rear visor is not lined, which was the case at the time of issue.  The original four piece helmet plate includes the white metal star; brass motto (Honi soit qui mal y pense) black japanned metal background and numeral one.  With minor service wear and dents, a highly desirable collector’s piece.  G/VG

At the request of the owner, this helmet has been reduced from $1450.00 to $975.00
