Vues a Vol D´┐ŻOiseau: Stone Lithograph made by Order of the Emperor of Russia, c.1854.  This topographical map, design and lithograph by A. Guesden, was published by DeLaRue, Paris and E. Gambart & Co., London, c.1855.  The map is 17 1/2 x 23 inches plus margins, and shows a peaceful and orderly Port and City, with Russian installations and almost out of sight on the hills behind, the tent encampments of the Allies.  Beneath the title at the bottom there are 29 reference keys.  The map is about spotless, currently in an acid free double matt, 22 1/2 x 28 inches, ready to frame. This is a rare example, a highly decorative and attractive style that became very popular in the mid Victorian era, a style not continued in later years.
