Her Majesty's Army: Richards. The complete 4 Volume set  $1,250.00 

Her Majesty’s Army:  A Descriptive Account of the various Regiments now comprising the Queen’s Forces, from their first establishment to the present time; Vols. I, II & III.  Richards, Walter.  1st US Edition, John Beacham, NY., nd but c.1895.  Vol I, Cavalry, Artillery, Guards and Territorial Units (Regular Infantry Regiments) 352pp., vol II, 352pp., a continuation of Territorial (Infantry) Regiments, including index; vol III, Indian & Colonial Forces, 378pp., including index.  The three volumes with a total 46 colour plates including Frontis.  The volumes give the history of the cavalry, artillery, engineers, Guards and Regiments of the line of the late Victorian Army, with full colour uniform plates by G.D. Giles, and others, all shown in Home Service uniform of red or blue jackets before the arrival of universal khaki.  Bound in bright red 3/4 morocco with spine bands and panels with gilt decorations and titles; t.e.g.  With matching illustrated box slipcases.

 

            Together with Vol IV, His Majesty’s Territorial Army, a descriptive account of the King’s Imperial Army of the Second Line.  Richards, Walter. 1st Edition, London, c.1902, viii and 184pp with 8 colour plates including Frontis, by R. Caton Woodville.  Although much scarcer than the first three volumes, the bindings of Vol IV match these, with the original illustrated cover incorporated in the body of the slipcase.  A complete matched set in the condition of these volumes is practically impossible to find and a credit to any military library.
